Attack of the Adirondacks
It's a bird, it's a plane, it's... a giant adirondack chair?

That's what one Vancouver mother was wondering when she took an unexpected detour on her way to Osoyoos and ended up driving all around the Okanagan.
She writes, "Everywhere there were these huge, white Adirondack chairs that said 'Osoyoos Cottages'". She was driving at the time with her two young daughters who were delighted with the extra-large wooden lounge chairs. "We thought they were a brilliant idea... we played a game of who saw one next... they were everywhere!"
The chairs range in size, with the biggest reaching just over 12 feet high. Developer Eric Van Maren wanted the chairs to be of Paul Bunyan proportions to catch the eye of potential cottage buyers. A crane was required to erect the chairs in their locations in farmer’s fields, fruit stands and one located at Tickleberry’s in Okanagan Falls.
“The chairs have caused quite a commotion in the area and are certainly a talking point...We’ve seen a significant increase in interest in The Cottages” said Van Maren.
The super-sized seats have everyone talking. And the chair-y on top? The project is predicted to boost the local economy. The Osoyoos Indian Band will receive around $400,000 in revenue from land taxes and all the subcontractors will come from the Okanagan area.
